Committing to our Community and Environment in 2025 and Beyond

As we step into 2025, we’re more committed than ever to doing our part for the environment and our community. At Spaceworks, we’ve always believed that businesses thrive best in spaces that aren’t just affordable and flexible, but also sustainable.

This pledge is about creating workspaces that feel good, knowing they’re kinder to the planet and supportive of the incredible businesses that call them home.

 

Our Sustainability Journey (So Far!)

Over the years, we’ve been quietly working away, making changes that help reduce our environmental footprint. It started with the simple stuff, swapping out old lights for energy-saving LEDs, upgrading bike storage, and switching to 100% renewable electricity across all our buildings.

But one of the things we’re most proud of? Our solar panel arrays.

Back in 2021, we installed a 50 kW solar array at Easton Business Centre, cutting 11,700 kg of carbon emissions a year. It’s been a game-changer, not just for us but for the businesses we support.

Next up: The Old Schoolhouse. In 2025, we’re installing our fourth PV solar array with the help of our tenant Avon Electrics. There’s something special about working with the businesses within our community to make meaningful, lasting change.

Why This Matters (And Why We’re Not Stopping)

To guide us into the future, we commissioned energy surveys with Building Energy Experts, which identified ways to reduce waste and improve efficiency across our sites. These gave us a clearer picture of how we can reduce waste and make our buildings even more efficient.

With national targets to improve energy efficiency across commercial properties, we’re taking steps to ensure our spaces not only meet evolving standards but exceed expectations. By prioritising projects like solar installations, energy-efficient lighting, and infrastructure upgrades, we’re helping our tenants operate in spaces that are both sustainable and future-proof.

Our priorities for 2025 and beyond include:

• Expanding renewable energy initiatives like solar panel installations
• Continuing with energy efficiency upgrades, from heating improvements to smarter lighting systems.
• Exploring new solutions – we’re keeping an open mind about innovative tech that could make our spaces even greener.
• Strengthening partnerships within our community to drive shared progress.

 

Why It’s Bigger Than Us

This isn’t just about Spaceworks. It’s about the businesses that choose to grow with us. 

Many of our tenants depend on us to demonstrate environmental responsibility, as it directly supports their ability to tender for work and meet their own sustainability goals. Our decisions, from solar panels to green energy suppliers, help them meet their sustainability goals. 

By committing to these efforts, we’re not just making our spaces better for the planet, we’re helping our customers thrive.
