Community at the Core.

Spaceworks was founded in response to the lack of opportunities to start and grow businesses in an area of Bristol with higher levels of unemployment and economic deprivation.

Our guiding mission has been to provide access to affordable workspaces with flexible, low-risk agreements to act as a significant stimulus in creating and sustaining jobs.

In 2020 we celebrated winning the RICS Social Impact Awards 2020, South West, in the commercial category.

You can read more about it in our blog here and here is a short video we commissioned to explain to the judges about the history of the business.

We choose sites where we know Spaceworks can have a particularly significant impact.

  • The demography in these areas is diverse and welcoming to all backgrounds

  • There are a high number of entrepreneurs and start-ups in these inner-city suburbs

  • Our buildings are in the heart of residential communities and play a key role in making tenants feel more connected to their local area. It also means people can walk and cycle to work easily, reducing travel times

  • We have a range of different workspaces that can support a variety of businesses and sectors – offices, light industrial, co-working and art studios

Rock solid since '85

Our board of directors has continued to guide Spaceworks from its humble beginnings in 1985 to the present day. One of the original directors, Neil Pirie, is the current chairman.
