At Spaceworks, we love to celebrate the inspiring organisations that call our community home. This month, we’re shining a light on Smart Works Bristol, a charity empowering women across the city to transform their confidence, skills and career opportunities.

Meet the Chief Exec

“My name is Imy and I am the Head of Smart Works Bristol. We have recently set up here in the Easton Business Centre.”

How do you explain to people what you do?

“Smart Works is a charity which supports unemployed women to get into work through coaching, clothing and confidence.

We have an extensive wardrobe where we can support all women of every different shape and size for any different job that they could be going for. Our clothes are donated from clothing partners and from people giving their pre-loved clothes to us as well. All the clothes are sorted and checked for quality, steamed and made ready for our clients so that they can have a really fantastic outfit.

We provide them with trousers, skirts, dresses, shirts, jackets, coats, shoes, bags and accessories. Our clients come to us from our amazing referral network. We work with lots of different partners across Bristol and other charities and organisations, such as Job Centres, who refer women to us so we can support them through our service.”

What do you want to shout about?

“Smart Works exists to help women get back into work and overcome hurdles such as low confidence and being out of work for a long time, maybe having caring responsibilities. We want to really empower them to take that next step towards work, and we do that through coaching, clothing and confidence

Right now, we are preparing for our official launch in Bristol on the 23rd of October. We will be opening our doors five days a week to clients across the city.

“We love being part of Spaceworks. We moved here in July, after spending a long time trying to find the perfect home for Smart Works, and it’s incredible to be part of such a supportive community. 

There are so many other interesting businesses and charities here, and we feel so supported and looked after by Spaceworks, who are really here to help us grow our charity and move on to getting bigger and better as we develop.”
